The message may be the same, but the way it is delivered has certainly changed as large churches produce more elaborate Christmas productions every year. Sacramento-area churches are staging Christmas shows that often include large casts, theatrical lighting and music, and special guests.
Members of the Silhouettes perform Friday at Bayside Church in Roseville in the church's Christmas show-service. The Silhouettes were finalists on TV's "America's Got Talent." "We do Christmas around here big because God did Christmas big the first time," says Curt Harlow, teaching pastor.
Joel Thompson, with daughters Lana, left, and Ella, watches Bayside's pageant. "This was a Broadway production," he said.
