90-year-old reverend continues to preach after seven decades at pulpits of California churches

The Rev. Earl Chambers celebrated 70 years in the pulpit and is one of the longest-serving ministers in the area. It would be hard to find anyone in the Church of Christ who has preached more.

The Rev. Earl Chambers and his wife, Shirley, both 90, stand in front of the Church of Christ on Florin Road in Sacramento last Sunday, where Earl Chambers is serving as interim pastor. Married for 70 years, the couple met when they were both students at San Jose Bible College.

Lily Andrews doesn't hide her love for her religion or for teaching at St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She doesn't hide her sexuality or her marriage to Jeanine Perry. She is open, as is her church, considered one of the most welcoming to gay congregants in the Sacramento area.
